Heroes

There was a time when history was driven by individuals. The romaticised hero parted seas, freed slaves, created countries and gave their name to us. Now with the proliferation of NGOs, treaties and bureaucracy, has the age of heroism and the ability of an individual to change passed? Do the issues no longer call out to us, does the world no longer need heroes, has individualism taken away the concept of goodies and baddies, or maybe true courage is via democratic channels - Guevarism anyone? Although some say in us all there is an innate need for heroes, and maybe we just need hold out a little longer
